April Greetings and Bleeping Issues

My favourite time of the year – I always love the night the clocks go forward and we can enjoy a n extra hour daylight in the evening and the whole summer to look forward to. The blossoms in and around Southwell look truly beautiful and Bleasby particularly looks wonderful to drive through. The only shame this year is that the attempt in parliament to add an extra hour on in the summer did not go through. As well as the benefit of extra daylight, it did also make sense to be in line with European hours to great extent on this and I regret this did not go through.

Talking of Europe, it was lovely to make the most of the early Easter holidays recently and to get some early sunshine. If you want to go to somewhere which is still relatively unspoilt and a bit different but with the differentiaion of a place where the locals are truly welcoming and friendly, I recommend Madeira. One of the highlights along with watching wild dolphins was the friendliness over and above the norm from the peole there. One little boy of around nine made my day when he ran up to us in a little harbour town and said ( in perfect English )  “Isn't Madeira beautiful ? Do you like it ?”. What a change from tourist traps in other places.

Something has been bugging me lately, though – the bleeping culture we now live in. Why does everything from my car to the fridge have to bleep at me when I don't want them to  do so so ? Along with many other women, I like to have my handbag on the passenger seat when I am driving but this is no longer possible as weight sensors think there is a passenger on the seat. If I have to pick up my bag which has spilt over the passenger footwell again I shall scream...

The most annoying, however, is the fridge. After around 15 seconds, it starts bleeping at me. When putting away a major shop, this entails having to close the door several times whilst unpacking which drives me crazy.

A happy April to you all and have fun starting to plan your summer !
